Qpdfview loops and 100% CPU usage

Asked by Da Long

Hello,

Long time user of qpdfview here, on Gentoo Linux.

Since yesterday, quite often (but not always), qpdfview just goes into some kind of loop instead of displaying a document. This does not seem to be linked to any new way to create pdf on our platform, since qpdfview does this even with old docs (several years old, unchanged since, displayed ok till now).

The interface is displayed, as are the thumbnails or outlines (but everything is unusable). The document only shows the « clock icon » in the upper left corner. And qpdfview eats 100% CPU (on one core only, so the computer is still usable).

Currently the problem seems to have been solved by renaming the .config/qpdfview directory, thus making the tool create a new one.

Any idea about what could have gone wrong on our system ?

Tia,
DL.

Hello,

I am sorry that you experience these issues and I have no idea of why they occur. But since they seem to be related to the configuration I would certainly like to have a look a the configuration file before the issue is resolved, to possibly reproduce this here or at least get a better understanding of the issue. Would that be possible?

Best regards,
Adam

Hello again,

the access credentials have reached me, but the above URL is still timing out. Maybe some middlebox at contact.ba-cst.com is interfering?

Best regards,
Adam
