Qimo installation hangs - won't get past "select language" step
We are trying to install Qimo on an old, unused Dell desktop (2.6GHz pentium 4 with 256MB RAM).
We've downloaded several copies of the installation disk (from 2 different sites) and now have the Qimo CD(complete with eskimo boy printed on it) we ordered via mail. We get to select the language fine but never get to the select time zone step. (In terms of the instructions at QimoVolMan.pdf, we can do the steps on page 1 but not any further.) I've tried selecting both English and French but no luck.
Each CD shows an error when checked for defects. That is when we select "Check CD for defects" on the initial Qimo installation screen, the response is "Check finished: errors found in 1 files!" It doesn't make sense that this is due to a CD defect given that it has happened with several CDs, including the mail ordered one.
Thoughts or suggestions for getting Qimo installed?
Thank you for your help!
p.s. I posted this on UnbuntuForums and am cross posting it here. (I think it should have just been posted here in the 1st place-oops!)
