Installation failed with unrecoverable error

Asked by AnnaFW

I'm trying to install Qimo 2.0 on a Dell Latitude C600 with 256MB RAM that is currently running Qimo 1.0. I put the DVD in the DVD drive, and it boots. I select English, then Install. After a few minutes, I see a window appear that says:
Installation failed
The installer encountered an unrecoverable error. A desktop session will now be run so that you may investigate the problem or try installing again.

The desktop session starts, but I'm not sure where to look for errors/what went wrong.

Do you have any ideas?

Thanks!
Anna

I just had a similar experience on a IBM Thinkpad. The installation just stopped with an unrecoverable error. The live CD worked just fine.

When I had the live CD working, I found under Menue/system/installation and that one worked.

Try that

That worked! How curious. I did what you suggested - I booted off of the live CD, which worked fine. Then I selected Install (I forget what it said exactly), and it worked.
