Qimo runs from CD but won't install on HDD

Asked by Ulf Jansson

I'm trying to install Qimo on a Compac Armada M700 laptop (256 MB RAM, 476 MHz, 95 GB HDD). When the language menu displays I choose 'English' and on the Qimo menu I click 'Install'. Then I can hear the CD drive working for a few minutes, and finally I see the Qimo start page with the six game icons at the bottom. I can then run the programs O.K.

But when I take out the CD from the player and re-start the computer, it starts Windows XP again, and I can't see a single trace of Qimo. How do I install Qimo on the hard disk drive of the computer?

It sounds like you don't have enough RAM to run the installer. Usually when that happens, the installer fails to load and it drops back to the live session, which is what you were seeing. While 256MB is usually enough, if some of that is being reserved for your on-board graphics chip, it will reduce what is available to the installer.

Can you help with this problem?
