how to get notification of new releases

Asked by Brian Park

Hi, I noticed that a new version 2019.2 was released. Thank you. How do I get email-notification of new releases? I have looked repeatedly at this project site over many months but I can't figure it out. I'm pretty sure I have subscribed to the notifications on this project (https://launchpad.net/pytz), and I get updates when bugs are updated, but I did not receive notification of the new release. The last announcement I see on in the Atom feed section on the right hand side of https://launchpad.net/pytz is version 2018.4. I have also looked in the PyPI project (https://pypi.org/project/pytz/) but I cannot find any way to subscribe to notifications.

The https://launchpad.net/pytz atom feed works when I remember to post the announcement, which I didn't sorry. A more automatic system is needed. A feed from the pypi would be ideal - it is probably something an interested 3rd party could build from the pypi API.

Yup I agree notification from PyPI itself would be ideal. This stackoverflow (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/17395151) suggests a number of 3rd party notification systems. I'll take a look at these at some point.
