Polly and Xfce

Asked by Albert Cutrona

Hello!!

I have to VM installed, Xubuntu and Manjaro Linux Xfce Edition, and both with Polly, of course!! But between them there is a difference, when I close the window without exiting the app, Xubuntu doesn't show any icon in the notification bar. Instead Manjaro, as you can see in the screenshot, displays an icon in the notification area. Do you have any idea about that?

Best regards!!

The current version of Polly uses the Ubuntu Messaging Menu by default, and falls back to a notification icon when some Python libraries are not installed. My guess is that such libraries are installed on Xubuntu but not on Manjaro.

If you want to force the notification icon in Xubuntu, you can start Polly with the command line parameter --statusicon.

Hello!!

I understand, ~ polly --statusicon. Right, but that solution forces me to leave open Terminal, isn't it?

Any other idea without using terminal?

Saludos!!

If you want to permanently use the --statusicon parameter, edit the "Exec" value in the file /usr/share/applications/polly.desktop. Replace "polly" by "polly --statusicon".
