Where did my dictionary go?

This is the second time I've gone to use plover after tweaking the dictionary only to have the dictionary disappear over night. The first time I didn't make a backup, and this time I did, yet even when I copy it to the main json, it remains empty? Does anybody have any clue as I would like to be able to use the software and tweak the dictionary to my theory of shorthand writing and have no untranslates. As of now everything appears in steno and nothing is translating?!
