About OpenRaster file format

Asked by Gorom

Hi

Is OpenRaster considered as the native format for Pinta like XCF for Gimp or PDN for Paint.net ?

If that's the case, would it be more wiser to set OpenRaster as the default file format when it comes to write the ongoing project on disk ?
Right now with flatpak version, JPG comes first when i want to save a new file.

I know that this suggestion could confuse some users, some softwares like Audacity show a pop-up warning when it saves an audio project in AUP file format instead of a common file format like wave ou mp3.

Another way would be letting the user choose the default file format.

General purpose of this suggestion is allowing a user to rework some projects like layer editing for example, what do you think ?

Thanks for this great software btw !

I think the intended behaviour is that the last used file format is remembered, so if you always use ORA that would show up as the default when saving a new file.
If that isn't happening there might be some issue related to the flatpak package sandboxing, either accessing the saved settings or something to do with the file chooser portal?

ORA is the format to use if you want to save the layers etc, but I'm not sure about the confusion it might cause for some users if it were the default for a new install.

Ok thank you, i've just tested this behaviour and that's the case with the flatpak version.
