Is it normal that OpenShot gets slower with more files?

Asked by mozzbozz

When I have about 100 JPG photo files (about 10MP) Openshot get's REALLY slow. Up to 10 seconds just to change the position in the timeline (programme gets grayed out in this time). CPU: 100%, RAM: 33% - so RAM is not the problem. The CPU is a Dual Core 2GHz (Intel core 2 duo CPU T5870 @ 2GHz). Is that too slow??? I wonder because everything is fine with only a few files.

Thx,
k_s

P.S.:
Ubuntu karmic koala 9.10
Openshot 1.0.0 (ppa)

Update: My theory is that Openshot renders THE WHOLE VIDEO PREVIEW again all the time! Not only the little part you are looking at. Why?! The longer the film that longer is lasts! Why do I think that Openshot is doing this? Because everything works fine and is fast when it stopped working for some time and when you make ONE LITTLE change then it needs such a long time again just for showing the new preview.

Would this be a bug then? PLEASE solve this problem! It is so annoying! (and I don't want to make films with max. 5 Min and then add them all together --> quality would get worse :-/ )

Thank you already,
