scrubbing with audio

Asked by Daniel K. Attling

Does OpenShot support scrubbing the video while still playing the audio? Preferably if I scrub slowly I'd get dragged out audio. Reason I want this is for lipsyncing audio to animation where looking over and over again in slow motion is pretty much the only way to get it right. How about time stretching audio (while retaining pitch) ?

I'd try all of this out myself but I'm currently having trouble building it on Fedora 9.

Great questions. Currently, OpenShot doesn't play the audio while you scrub, fast-forward, rewind, frame-by-frame, etc.... I'm sure it's possible, but I haven't gotten that far yet. Also, we don't have a way to stretch the audio yet. I imagine we'll add both of these features at some point, but probably after version 1. Thanks!

I used to use Adobe Premiere Elements and the lack of a good Linux video editor was one of the things that kept me from being able to move to Linux. Thanks to OpenShot, this was no longer an issue and I have been on Ubuntu for over a year now.

OpenShot does not, however, play audio while you scrub. This was a feature of Premiere and it is soooo important when trying to sync video with an audio track.

If features are implemented based on votes, then I vote for this one.

Thanks.

It would seem I commented on this 6 years ago during a previous attempt to switch to Ubuntu. I am now back in the Ubuntu world and trying OpenShot again. I am generally pleased with OpenShot. It seems to be much more stable than it was before. I am disappointed that in 6 years it still does not do audio scrubbing.
