Audio desync

Asked by William Crawford

So, I've edited with OpenShot for like almost a year now. I honestly don't know how I haven't run into any major problems during this time since I know little to nothing about using a video editor, but I somehow haven't. That being said, I now have.

The long and short of it is that 2 hour stream from Twitch is having desync issues in the file preview, split clip, and full video preview windows. I've double checked with two different video players to make sure the audio issues aren't inherent to the stream file. It is an MP4 with a framerate of 29, an audio bitrate of 157kbps, and an audio sample rate of 48 hz. I have tried changing the profile to a 29 fps setting and messed around with the audio settings. Nothing has fixed it. I haven't checked if it would carry into the exported file yet (I have a very bad PC and exporting even short videos takes a while and renders my computer practically unusable), however I do think it would considering that it is present in every other place.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Update: Exported a ten second clip that had really really strong desync. It was still very much present in the exported file.

So, fixed it. I used a file converter to convert my 1080p MP4 file to a 720p MP4 (I think it'd work converting it to 1080p too. I just didn't wanna wait that long to test an idea that might not work.) It worked fine after that. No audio desync whatsoever now.
