Will we be getting an update on OpenShot 2.0 soon?
It's been 6 months since the last update and it's been nearly a year since the projected delivery date. What's up with OpenShot 2.0?

It seems that the development of Openshot 2.0 is halted. At least for libopenshot. The last commit was on 2014-09-26.
Either the project is quietly abandoned, or the creator can't continue or communicate (legal/health issues, etc) Openshot.

Yes we know, the stuff has been highest than we have planned. Openshot QT has been completely re-designed with all this news technologies that we have used for the best utilisation of the project that we have never had.
We are now near the beta but we are delayed by Jonathan who have some enormous private problems.
BTW a big update for libopenshot and openshot qt were ((last post on G+ done by Jonathan)) and are still planned .
Thanks you to support us and to be patient.
Olivier.

Hope everything is ok for Jonathan and his family.
Semeone should find a way to notify everyone. A post to the official page, a thread to the forum, a comment to the Kickstarter page.
Or just a simple cope push to bzr for libopenshot.
Something saying "We are here".

It is a good idea. And I must said that I've not even think to something
like that.
I need to make several things before doing that. Thanks for all.

Hi,
I am a contributor to the Openshot Kickstarter and it took me a while to find some information about the status of the project, like this thread.
First of all I would like to wish all the best to Jonathan Thomas with his personal problem. I just hope it is not one of health.
As a contributor to an "investment" I can perfectly understand that things don't always go according to plan. I think it's clear it did not happen out of lack of responsibility and I hope other contributors share the same opinion as myself and that Jonathan Thomas can focus on his personal issues.
But if any of the other developers can access the Kickstarter campaign, I think it would be really good to put an update so that at least the contributors don't have to waste time to dig up the status.
Finally, I don't use a video editor but I think this is a much needed tool in Linux, specially if it is not just powerful but easy to use to an occasional user for basic stuff, which I felt OpenShot was going to be.
All the best!

Hi Olivier (and hopefully Jonathan).
I hope everyone involved is, at least somewhat, ok and getting better. I totally agree and respect that a piece of software is non-important compared to personal health or shitty life situation needing attention. So no bashing or yelling from me.
I am, though, in sync with the comments regarding the lack of information. Especially considering the users having backed the kickstarter campaign with real money. And yes, people are desperate out there, I'm even receiving personal email from users finding my name on the "Pending approval" list on the “OpenShot Developers” team at Launchpad (https:/
It is critical that the project indicate it is alive soon, or people will begin dismissing it.
It doesn't necessarily need to be Jonathan coming out with open arms and the full 538 pages explanation, just a small note from someone who can trustfully relay the short story about what's been happening and how the project will be moving forward.
From my point of view what also needs to happen is a restructuring of the project with the purpose of lifting the burden of off Jonathan shoulders, and making it less vulnerable to one-man fallout as experienced here. It clearly needs to transition from Jonathan-driven to community-driven.
What annoys me the most is that the current situation is completely locked up for people who could be actively contributing and improving openshot, and that's really double-stupid.
I'm a developer myself and I want to help out but I can't, the hurdle being that all the code accessible is pre-qt code. I could go fork from that if I thought all was lost at openshot HQ. Fortunately I'm not there yet, and I know that a great deal of effort has been put into the openshot-qt code, but if I had access to that nice and shiny qt code I could already be coding instead of writing this plea.
So pretty please who can make the openshot-qt master branch publicly accessible?
All the best,
Mikkel

Any news?
Still not a single code commit.
If Johnathan is unable to continue, release the code. At least to the backers.
This situation is becoming a bad joke. Just a single update would sort things out.
"Hey, guys family matters prevents me from continuing the project. Thanks you for your patience and the money. Here, take the code so far."

Fear not dear compatriots!

Also libopenshot has released 0.0.4 https:/

I would have really loved to publish the current version of our PyQt5 application before sending this update (that was my goal). However, the Qt interface still has 2 critical issues that need my attention before it’s ready to share out with developers. Our keyframe editor is partially hooked up, and about 50% completed. Our Export Video dialog is about 75% complete, but has a few big usability issues. Both of those are pretty low hanging fruit, but critical to basic usage and testing of the interface. These are the 2 tasks I am currently working on. If no other major distractions happen, I should have the Qt source code published in the next couple of weeks.

He also talks about moving house. Seriously, you should read the Feb update (1st link)

Pinging this thread as it seems to be the only ongoing conversation with regards to Openshot 2. It has been 3 months since the last update, which stated that there were only minor issues preventing a release of code to developers. Is there any schedule for when the QT portion (and recent libopenshot library) will be made accessible?
The Kickstarter campaign clearly stated that the project would be open-source, and it is becoming difficult to believe that the developer is acting in good faith. Nobody is asking for immediate feature-complete releases, only that the current code is made available in a system that makes collaboration straight-forward and transparent. A tool like Github supporting easy forks and pull-requests is a means to this end, but by all means not the only way to achieve this.
I understand how easy it is for life to interfere, and it sounds like the developer has appropriate personal priorities. However, I don't want all of the invested work to go to waste, as the community is forced to fracture off to support other video editing projects.

There was a big commit today to the libopenshot code by Jonathan Thomas. I guess there will be an update soon. Don;t expect a code release though.
