How do I make openoffice the default program for word documents

I want to open Word .doc files in open office by double clicking and can't find a way to change the current setting. Also, when I right click on a .doc file and select "Open With" swriter, nothing happens.

Right click on the doc file, click on Properties. Go to the Open With tab. :)
