Compatibility with other Linux distributions?

Most of the uTouch gesture recognition stack is Free Software and available to any who wish to use it for any purpose as outlined in the GPL. Some of the software has an MIT-style license and is open source. There is no technical or legal restriction on making this software available on other platforms, other than the usual copyleft covenant.

Current core efforts are focused on making uTouch available in Ubuntu. Any efforts to make uTouch available on other Linux distributions or other OSes are welcome.

To further elaborate:

1) we have not taken any measures to limit the functionality to just
Ubuntu, and furthermore,

2) at every step in planning the architecture as well as during actual
development we have tried to make decisions that would allow uTouch to
run well on any distribution.

We see uTouch as a Linux gesture solution. Obviously, we have an
immediate practical need for getting touch running on Ubuntu... but
that's only the *first* use case... among many.

We have openly collaborated with both RedHat employees and RedHat
community members, integrating their suggestions into our development
plans. We will do the same with all who wish to collaborate. The best
ways to do so are:

 * join the mail list and participate in the discussions (you can do
this by joining the https://launchpad.net/~multi-touch-dev team and
setting your Launchpad email options for that team), and/or

 * branching code from Launchpad and submitting merge requests for your
branch when done. Most of the uTouch-related projects are linked to
https://launchpad.net/canonical-multitouch
