Install Nightshade on Linux Mint 9 Isadora

Asked by Mark Breen

I made it as far as the command ./configure. I got the error:

checking for Boost headers version >= 1.42.0... no
configure: error: cannot find Boost headers version >= 1.42.0

I have downloaded boost version 1.42.0, but I may not have placed it in the correct location.

I also understand from a previous thread that I need fastDB. I downloaded this, but again don't know where to place the files.

What am I missing, and could someone break this down step-by-step?

Thanks,
Mark

Step by step instructions are difficult since every Linux distribution has slightly different conventions. Personally, I've never used Mint.

How did you install boost? Via a package manager? Manually from a source distro? Some distributions have a separate 'dev' package that contains the headers for boost. For instance, on Fedora I would say 'yum install boost-devel'. You'll need to determine what it needed for Mint.

Can you help with this problem?
