About horizontal flip

Asked by Ramón Vargas Salas

Hi, I'm Ramón Vargas, from México., and I work for a Science museum in the city of Xalapa, Veracruz.

I had been using Stellarium 0.9.1 with spheric mirror distortion for a while and just a couple of days ago I install nightshade 11.2.1 on an iMac with Intel processor and Snow Leopard 10.6.6.

All runs fine except for when I use the spheric mirror distortion, all the labels on te screen (planets names, star names, constellation names, etc.) are flipped horizontally.

I know that if I change my video proyector configurations, flipping the output image, all labels are now in the correct form, but that is some kind of problem for me because I also run a software to project movies on the dome. So when I wish use on or another, I have to make change on the configurations on the video projector, resulting anoying for the audience.

I even try to use this comands on the config.ini file, wich works fine in stellarium 0.9.1 when sphericmirror distortion is enable:
flip_horz = true
flip_vert = true

but seems to have no effect.

Is there a way to solve this or I have to wait until someone could make changes to the nightshade source code?

Thanks in advance for your attention and let me say to you that you are doing a really great job. ¡Thanks!

As soon as I understand better Nightshade I would like to contribute with some scripts and other things in the range of my possibilities.

Best regards from Mexico.

This flipping feature was disabled a while back for performance reasons. We did not realize anyone was depending on it. So we do have it on our list of things to fix.

Maybe there is a way to flip your movies in your video player?

Any contributions to the project would be welcome, glad you like it otherwise.

Hi, Rob. Thanks for the quick response to my question.

I will look for the solution to flip the videos instead.

Just a remark: in my first attemps in trying to running nightshade, all what I got was a blank and black screen. After many tryouts, I found that the config.ini file has a resolution of
screen_w = 0
screen_h = 0
After changes the zero values to the my desire resolution everything works fine. The happens the first time I was running nightshade both, on Windows and Macosx.
Also from time to time, when I quit the program, the same problem appears and I had to change the resolution on the config.ini.

This is no a really big problem and I just want to comment it.

Thanks again for the attention an I'll be in touch.

Regards.

If you keep seeing this 0x0 window setting getting reset please enter a bug report and tell us what OS versions and screen resolutions you are seeing this on so we can investigate further.

Thanks!

Rob
