Netflix desktop won't start because Silverlight crashes

Sebastian answered that a workaround is:

* To get Netflix-Desktop running (with or without using the Pipelight libraries): Just start it with
wine-browser --disable-hw-acceleration

* To get Pipelight running: Run the following command
/usr/share/pipelight/configure-silverlight
and type "disable" to disable HW acceleration.

I tried the first one and it worked, but how do I make the command permanent so that by clicking the Netflix-desktop icon it just do it and no need to go to a browser to select Netflix?

The second alternative didn't work for me even though I have Pipelight installed. When I type it in terminal I get the following:

williepabon@williepabon-VGN-N130G:~$ /usr/share/pipelight/configure-silverlight
bash: /usr/share/pipelight/configure-silverlight: No such file or directory

The second command should be available at

/usr/share/pipelight/scripts/configure-silverlight

in new versions of Pipelight (please note the additional 'scripts/'). Please try again with this commandline.

For Netflix-Desktop the easiest way for a permanent fix is to modify the shortcut or creating a new shortcut which contains this additional argument. Most probably Erich can tell you more about that. ;)

Found configure-silverlight in: /usr/share/pipelight/scripts. After running the command and disabling hw acceleration I ran Netflix in Firefox and got error: N8109. Just supplying additional information of my problem. Thanks.

N8109 is also a well-known error, and caused by a broken user agent switcher.
Did you maybe install the broken browser extension "user agent switcher 0.7.3"?

Hi William,

To change the netflix-desktop launcher you want to edit the launcher file:
sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/netflix-desktop.desktop
Just change the line that says:
Exec=netflix-desktop
to:
Exec=netflix-desktop --disable-hw-acceleration

Note: if you send me a pastebin of the output to "glxinfo" I can add your graphics card/driver info to the list to disable it automatically when the next version gets released.

Both modifications worked perfectly. Netflix now works with Netflix-desktop and with Pipelight. Thank you.
