ubuntu netbook remix 9.10 need help

Asked by Dangerous Dann

Haven't used Linux since Xwindow cam out...It's a lot differnt now...

I have an HP Mini (netbook)

I installed Netbook-remix on it last night. Everything works fine except the Known issue with the Broadcom WIFI. I was able to connect (through RJ45) to the internet. I went to terminal and typed: sudo apt-get update and followed the instructions and then typed: sudo apt-get --reinstall install bcmwl-kernal-source and that worked. Then went to Synaptic Package manager and followed the instructions. Before it completed we lost power and the cable modem cut out, which cause my hp mini to shut down before it completed. so now i can't get online through wifi.

How do i uninstall ubuntu netbook remix and reinstall it clean so I can start over fresh and reinstall it from the live cd/usb drive and then redo the fix for the broadcom issue...

your help is much appreciated,
Dann B.

I'd just try everything you did the first time. Just re-format the HDD and it should be all good.

I eventually solved the problem... here's how...

We had to format and reinstall 3 times. However, there was a bad DNS entry we found that had to be changed before we could perform the recommended fix to the broadcom issue.
