Any way of installing myth front end without mysql?

It seems the following packages depend on mythtv-frontend:

  libdbd-mysql-perl libdbi-perl liblockfile1 libmysqlclient15off libmyth-0.20
  libnet-daemon-perl libplrpc-perl libqt3-mt-mysql mailx mysql-client mysql-client-5.0
  mysql-common mysql-server mysql-server-5.0 mythtv-common mythtv-doc pwgen

Is there a reason why mysql-server needs to be installed to run the mythtv-frontend?
