Cannot open display

Asked by Edoardo Iannucci

Hi,

I'm trying to generate a 4top production event I'd like to view on the screen my Feynman diagrams, but this is what appears on my terminal when I run the "display diagrams" command (I've already installed an eps viewer program):

Looks like you cannot connect to the X server.
Are you working on a remote machine? What is your OS?
Did you configure MG5aMC to use the eps viewer that you did install?

Cheers,

Olivier

Hi,

I/We do not have any experience in windows computer (neither WSL actually).

I know that mobaxterm does install an X-server in top of his tool to do ssh connection. So if you connect to a remote (unix) machine and do display diagrams on the server, you should be able to see the diagrams in your screen.

If you find an easy solution for windows, do not hesitate to detail it here, it can be usefull for the few that try to run MG5aMC on windows.

Cheers,

Olivier

I'm using MadGraph with WSL and for me there was a difference in what Windows/WSL version I'm using.

Windows 11 and WSL2 are no problem, everything is pre-installed and I could just run MadGraph without any issue.
For Windows 10 and WSL1 I needed to setup a Windows X server first, (e.g. with VcXsrv).
