High CPU load with long EPG span

Asked by virta

I get very high cpu load when I try extend EPG span to few days. It seems that refreshing EPG information takes very much cpu cycles and me-tv is doing this quite often. With dualcore atom + ion platform I get 100% load with 48 hours of EPG information and me-tv-player becomes unresponsive.

Is this known problem? With <10 hours of EPG information there is no problem.

I'm running 1.2.4.

Yes, I would guess that your computer is not fast enough to render a large EPG. I think that you will find that it's more of a GTK issue, your computer can't render many buttons quickly. If I get some time I'll profile it to see if I can make it more efficient.

Information on EPG changes just few times a hour. So there is no real need to redraw EPG more than few times a hour. But sure, with better performing GTK this wouldn't be an issue.
