Enter the directory folder in nautilus and press Ctrl+D (shortcut for creating a bookmark).
Basically, when you add a bookmark, the entry gets added to the places panel

Yes, that works in nautilus, but not with Marlin.

The menus to manage the bookmarks (add/remove ...) are not yet implemented. However you can drag & drop any directory to the "Personal" sidebar place to bookmark them. Marlin uses gtk3 bookmarks so any bookmark made in Nautilus and|or open file dialog should work too.

drag & drop-> does not working

I think the only way to do this is with Nuatilus.

You can also edit the ~/.gtk-bookmarks
