Connection Error

Sometime the amount of data is so huge that has to be migrated that it takes more time than the timeout of the GTK or Web client.

The process continues and finally you may have all your products imported, but the GTK client to Server XML RPC connection will time out before that.

You can try by increasing the timout. If the data still doesnt get imported and you have a problem, you can report a bug and it may help us solve the issue better. Please make sure that you have the complete stack trace pasted along with the bug report.
FAQ #809: “Connection Error when large amount of data is imported”.

That was strange... Although OpenErp gave the above error yesterday and I could not see any products, I fired up my PC today and suddenly all products where there (exactly 2238 products) that matched the quantity of products in my shop.

Thats exactly what i told you. The XMLRPC connection from Client to Server (only open erp) doesnt hold that long especially when the magento instance is remote..

However it will import all products successfully.

Can you update tot he latest trunk. it will show you the attributes of products also.

updated the trunk and made a fresh database and after import of products i now get this error when wanting to view the products:

Yes i think too, but as you know Magento and its database are utf-8 charset.

I think its a bug reading these articles how python handles characters that needs to be encoded/decoded to unicode, base64 and ascii.

my shop runs in Dutch ( default) English and German.
For Dutch (and also French and German) many characters are used like ä,Ä,é,É,è,È,ë,Ë,ü,Ü,ö,Ö,ï,Ï. (Latin1)

I knew this before but now, with Magento 1.4.1.0, it exports my categories (250) and stop after export 3 or 4 products. I have 4900 products to export.
What's wrong?

It stops after that. Sometimes it doesn't export any products, sometimes 2, sometimes 3,....

I don't see any errors so it must run OK. If you had a complete succesfull export before the connector only uploads products that have been modified. If there was a malfunction it should show in the log

When I tested the connector, it continues to export after the Connection Refused. But here, even if I raise the timeout, it stops just now on product export.
It's very strange.

The log show nothing wrong. I try to export first a few products with the Magento profile. Does the Import button update the OpenERP catalog?

I think if you get the time out error and click the OK button the import/export stops.
Just keep the time out error on the screen and drink some coffee and watch TV for about an hour or so and don't click OK.

Importing 4900 products takes about one hour on my system. Exporting all products will take longer. After a complete export it should only update products that are changed in OpenErp

You can check the server log in meantime if it is finished or not and when it is finished click OK on the time out error.

Je connais ça et j'aimerais vraiment que cela se passe comme ça. Depuis que j'ai augmenté le timeout, je n'ai plus le message d'erreur mais le log s'arrête et l'exportation aussi.
J'essaie dans le sens inverse et cela a l'air de fonctionner mais cela prend plus de temps à mettre en oeuvre.

I know that and I really want this to happen like that. Since I increased the timeout, I have no error message but the log stops and also export.
I try in the opposite direction and it seems to work but it takes longer to implement.
