After Install, cant add Magetento Instance

Asked by Landis

I have a fresh install of OpenERP 6.0.3 plus Magento ERP Connect with all dependencies.

All seems to want to work until I go to create a New Instance under he Magento Control Panel in OpenERP.

The "Name" field is not Active, and when I fill everything else out, then go to Save or Save & Edit I get the error:

" The operation cannot be completed, probably due to the following: - deletion: you may be trying to delete a record while other records still reference it - creation/update: a mandatory field is not correctly set [object with reference: name - name]"

This occurs whether or not I fill out Referential Type and Location (web url for Magento)

Will try a new Database next but I expect I will have similar issues.

Does it need to be done in GTK?

GTK indeed got it started. Now I am just having timeout errors,, though over time it seems that items are coming in. I am not sure why my "stockable" items in Magento are "consumables" in OpenERP. Maybe 0 on hand... but not sure.

Seems a few things, like "adding warehouses" are best started in GTK.

Current Problem is that "Contact Name in Magento is Mapping to Name" and "Name in Magento is mapping to Company Name in OpenERP".

Unfortunately now, though, on fresh install (as this didnt work out). I can't even get magentoerpconnect to install.

Very inactive board here considering what seems to be an active project.

Subject of the post is closed. Not the subject of board participation. I am not understanding the model here it seems. If support is to be "paid for" where is the funnel?

Hi,

1. The web client of OpenERP is quite unstable and its best to use GTK client.

2. The client has a specific timeout time and it will timeout but the processing keeps running at the server end.

3. I am not sure if there is a mapping for product types like 'consumable' and 'stockable'.

4. Regarding the mapping of names. This is a generic design that is implemented. Handling of addresses in OpenERP and Magento is quite different. There are quite a few assumptions that have been made while designing the system. Eg: A person can place multiple orders to different addresses (Contact names in OpenERP) but he wont change his name while placing the orders (Company name in openerp). Different people have different needs for this. This can be customized as per the needs of a person (if feasible).

Anyone out there interested in helping me get this set up? I ran out of time on it. Would love to run OpenERP and Magento together. I think I have found a way to keep Magento and Amazon in synch (item descriptions and inventory anyway) via an outside service but still would like OpenERP and Magento.
