Intermittent slow DNS lookup

Clean install of Lubuntu 17.04.
I note that DNS is set to 127.0.0.53 which is pingable.
Sometimes, going to a new web site takes a long time for the initial load, software updates took ages to start as does actions in Synaptics. (I assume this is DNS).
I do not see this on other computers on my network. As I said, seems intermittent, maybe it's just me.
