Encrypted persistent filesystem

Asked by Bulat

Wouldn't it be nice to have an option of encrypted persistent filesystem ? (at least for /home) I'd appreciate it. ;)
Or can you suggest any workaround ? I don't fear to do all the steps manually if anyone will tell what to do exactly. :)

P.S. I had a look at some Debian-related mailing lists and sites. I couldn't figure it out weather encryption is supported or not by live-initramfs etc. for persistent storage? What patches should I apply to what packages/programs? How to convert existing persistent live filesystem into encrypted one?
