How to accept an exception for an "invalid security certificate"?

Our Exchange Server offers an "invalid security certificate". This is due to a server name mixup.
The Exchange server has a different server name internally. The certificate is issued for the server name, under which the server is reachable externally via Webmail.
Whenever I try to create a calendar, I get a Secure Connection Failed error message.
Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain
But I can't tell Thunderbird to accept the certificate anyways. Is there a way to pursuade thunderbird to accept the certificate?

I think you can import the certificate into Thunderbird: <http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_FAQs_:_Import_CA_Certificate>. But this is really a Thunderbird question.
