Multiple machines for the same account

Asked by specimen

Hi,

The exchange provider works brilliantly under normal circumstances. However, it seems to go into an infinite loop consuming cpu but doing nothing, when I have multiple machines trying to access my calendar on the same account. Is this a known feature?

For example, I have thunderbird on my laptop and my desktop to contact the same server. Things go back to normal when I switch off either one instance of thunderbird. The machines used ran xp and windows 7 respectively.

Thanks and Best Regards,
Specimen.

This is very interesting. I've seen bug reports about Thunderbird hanging, and I'm trying reproduce this right now. I'm using the provider from two different linux machines, and I don't have any problems.

Could you maybe supply the debug output when this happens?

I am a newbie at this - my apologies. The instructions you have for the debug output does not work for windoze. Maybe I have missed something, but running from the command line gives no output to the said command line.

Did you set calendar.debug.enable ?

that should be calendar.debug.log

Yes. But I have no clue where to look for the log.

It should be printed in the console, when you start thunderbird from there. However, I don't really know Windows + Thunderbird at all.

I just released 0.10, could you check whether you still have the problem with the new version?

Thanks - will try out 0.10 and let you know, though I may be able to really run a cross check only during the week.

About the debug printout, windoze ensures that nothing comes to the console. I am guessing it goes to some file in some weird directory, but am at a loss as to where to look.

This problem seems solved for me! The calendar is displaying happily in multiple non-outlook sessions.

Now it will be great if the cache problem is also fixed :)
