Is 1.5.1 the final 1.6 release?

Asked by Maxime Gauduin

Hi,

I'm packaging lightdm and some of its greeters in archlinux. Since lightdm 1.6 has been released, I would like to know if you plan on releasing a 1.6.x version of the gtk greeter or if 1.5.1 is considered stable and final release of the 1.6 branch like 1.3.1 was. I'm asking that because I can't package development releases.

Cheers,

Maxime

By the way, I'm assuming that like with lightdm odd releases are development releases, correct me if I'm wrong.

Nevermind, I'll just package 1.5.1. It's been working great for me for some time anyway.

Hello Maxime,

Yes, odd releases are generally considered development. Following up on that, we are moving towards a "stable" 1.6.0 release soon. Today we released version 1.5.2, which we feel is quite stable and very close to what 1.6.0 will be, if you're interested.

Hi Sean,

Thank you for your reply. I'll stick to 1.6.x when it's out then, in the meantime I'll bump to 1.5.2 since I already packaged 1.5.1.

Cheers,

Maxime
