How do I approve translations in my import queue?

Asked by Honore

A translation team has uploaded a simplified chinese.po file for the WiserEarth project. How do I approve their upload in the import queue? And if not me, who does it and how long will it take before it happens?

Hi Honore,

In general, to approve valid translations in the imports queue, you should be able to click on the pencil icon next to the entry to see if you can solve the issue impeding the automatic approval and accept the changes when done. In general, though, if there is a valid template, the name of the file to upload is correct and it is a well-formed PO file, it shuld be automatically imported.

Looking at the import queue, there is an error message for that file stating "File was not exported from Launchpad." (you can see this by clicking on the (i) icon next to the entry). This leads me to believe that the file was uploaded as "Updated translation" when in fact it should have been "Imported translation". Do you think you could contact the uploader and tell him/her to retry the upload at https://translations.launchpad.net/wiserearth/trunk/+pots/wiserearth/zh_CN/+upload, this time choosing the "Imported translation" option?

If you've got any problems, you can file a support request against Launchpad Translations at https://answers.launchpad.net/rosetta/+addquestion or alternatively ask at the #launchpad IRC channel on Freenode

Hi Honore,
I have re-uploaded the file with option "Imported translation", this will help it get imported correctly.

David, as always, you're a great source of help - thank you for taking the time to answer this question. Glad to see that Aron has already re-uploaded the file - looks like it went through for approval and is showing up on the translations. Good stuff!
