Project group request: AppImage

Asked by Peter J. Mello

I'm not sure what the exact rubric is for determining the worthiness of granting a project group, but in bouncing around the various projects while working to keep them current and informative, I too often feel myself getting lost moving between all the interconnected pages. By extension, if that often happens to me, likely one of the most frequent visitors to them, it quite possibly befalls other, more casual users as well, and all would likely benefit from a larger organizational envelope grouping them more tightly. I propose for it to be assembled around the details below.

Request particulars:
 * Project group name: AppImage
 * Launchpad ID: appimage
 * Summary: AppImages are self-contained apps which can be easily downloaded & run on any Linux distribution without concerns for meeting dependencies or needed elevated permissions to install.
 * Description: AppImage is a packaging format for Linux applications that simplifies packaging efforts with a single file format that offers portability, longevity and independence from system packages. AppImageKit is the toolchain used to produce the executable package files, with backend functionality largely provided by libappimage and AppImageUpdate. AppImageHub is a free, libre portal for developers and other producers of AppImages to advertise their availability to end users built on the OpenDesktop framework, and several venues exist where the community of users, packagers and developers can interact and influence development goal for the ecosystem at-large.
 * Launchpad team owners: appimage-maintainers
 * Child projects:
     - libappimage
     - AppImageLauncher
     - AppImageUpdate
     - AppImage-Kit (possibly, currently unrelated)

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Can you help with this problem?
