I am ready to get help setting up an upstream translation project for Ubuntu into Bemba since there is no other initiative doing that. Please help me get started.

Thanks

Henninge, thanks for spotting this out! :)

Goof, let start by working upstream with GNOME.

Here is the main localization website for GNOME: http://l10n.gnome.org/

You will find there a guide about creating a new GNOME translation team: http://live.gnome.org/TranslationProject/StartingATeam/

This should be a start.
If something is not clear, please ask :)

You can also meet us on the #ubuntu-translators IRC channel on the irc.freenode.net network.

Cheers,
Adi
