Request for more PPA space

Asked by Chris Cheney

I recently received an email stating that I was over limit on my 'lp:openoffice-pkgs' PPA and that PPA limits will begin to be enforced on Feb 25. So I will need more storage quota. Part of the reason I am currently over my limit for PPA space is due to bug 324274. However I will be uploading another version of OpenOffice.org for Jaunty in a few weeks which will require even more space so I probably need about 1GB more than whatever it claims I am currently using, at least until the bug is corrected. I do not know how much exactly I need as the counters are still broken on the PPA pages.

I believe that once bug 324274 is corrected I should be able to reduce the size of my PPA by over 1GB maybe more since there are many obsolete copies of OpenOffice.org orig.tar.gz in my repository each of which are over 300MB.

Thanks,

Chris Cheney

Chis,

As I've pointed to you on IRC, the bug doesn't affect your quota, since LP *thinks* the files are gone. Currently your PPA has an estimated size of 1.7 GiB when in fact it's about 3.6 GiB in disk.

That means your PPA is over quota, despite the bug is fixed or not. I'm sure we can grant you as much space you need, just consider the repository size value presented by LP on edge.

Celso,

Ah ok thanks for the update, I must have forgotten what you had told me before. I need my quota to be upped to about 3.0GB then from what it appears by looking at the quota usage on edge. I had thought I had my quota raised to 2GB in the past but apparently not.

Thanks,

Chris Cheney

Chris,

No worries, 3GB seems fair enough for frequent OO uploads. LOSAs will update your quota.

Oh yea, it also might be useful assuming to have the quota limit displayed in the statistics about how much your ppa is currently using. As far as I can tell it is not easy to determine how much space the ppa has available, but I may be missing something.

Er sorry I probably should have opened the previous bit as a new question or a bug, but maybe the answer is quick and obvious to you? :)

Chris, look for the section "Repository disk usage" on edge:
https://edge.launchpad.net/~openoffice-pkgs/+archive/ppa

The counters will be released to the main site on the 25th.

I just uploaded today and it said I was over quota at PPA exceeded its size limit (2219.00 of 2048.00 MiB). So it appears the bump to 3.0GB did not actually get committed. Actually while you are at it would be good to bump the quota to 4GB instead so I should not need to ask for quota increase again next month with Jaunty packages.

Thanks,

Chris
