I cannot see the english translations for quit-applet-plus project

The "quit-applet-plus" project:
I have uploaded a translation tepmlate (pot) and two related po-files: "en.po" and "de.po". My preferred languages are "English", "English (United Kingdom)", "German" and "Russian", but I don't see the "English" translations. I don't see the "English" translations if I choose "View Template & All Languages... " neither.

Any Idea?

Rosetta requires all projects to be in English in the original and that translations start from there.

Launchpad does not support translation to plain "English," since that's assumed to be the original language you're coming from.

The gettext format also works on this assumption nowadays. That is why msgids can have a plan msgid (singular) and a msgid_plural but no equivalent for the further forms that some languages have.

I use english in the project as it's common, but my english is not good. Therefore I would expect that my english textes can be corrected by other translators in Rosetta. (not msgid's but msgstr's in the "en.po" file)

By the way, why can I select "English" as my preferred language then?

Do you mean, the "en.mo" file will be ignored by the gettext? I will test it... If it's true, you have right, then it makes no sense to support the plain english in Rosetta...

The gettext definitely considers the "en.mo" file (compiled from "en.po"). Therefore the Rosetta should support the plain English ("en") translations.

Yes, use "en_GB.po" or "en_AU.po". The "_US" suffix will also be ignored like "en.po".

Furthermore I am of the opinion that the "English" should be supported by Rosetta, considering the use case:
Somebody uses english in the project as it's common, but his English is not good. Therefore other translators should have the possibility to correct the English textes in Rosetta.

The problem is not solved, but I have my answer :) so I close this question.
