superseeded packages not removed from my PPA

Asked by Rolf Leggewie

I think superseeded packages linger forever in my ppa. They also seem to count toward my quota. I tried to delete them manually, but I can only do that for published packages. The only thing unusual about my account that I can think of is that my quota was increased from 1G to 3G so that I can do some OOo3 builds.

Hi

Superseded packages will linger for 24 hours until they are deleted. They do count towards your quota in this time, but you can delete them manually and they will be removed from the archive within 20 minutes.

Julian, thank you for the quick answer. I guess you are describing how it should be. For me, that does not seem to be the case. I still have very old superseded packages in my PPA. I also cannot delete superseded packages manually. The list returns empty when I try to do so.

Can you point me to which packages are concerning you please, and I'll take another look.

Rolf,

I've checked your PPA and you had about 2.2 Gb of sources and 1 Gb of binaries *already* removed from your repository. It clearly indicates that the PPAs do work as Julian, explained.

No packages shows up in the +delete-packages form interface when you select 'Superseded' filter because all the packages in that status were already deleted from the archive.

Can you find something in your repository pool/ that should not be there ?

Hm, maybe you are indeed right. Sorry for the noise in that case. I was just perplexed by a couple of things. One of them being that the page to delete superseeded packages never lists a package for me and most importantly that all the supposedly deleted packages are apparently still available for download. Maybe that was just a case of what is explained at https://help.launchpad.net/Packaging/PPA#Deleting%20packages

Again, sorry for the noise.
