Problem uploading modified translation (.PO file)

Asked by FTA

I was using a file called "ja.po" for the japanese translation of the project but then i downloaded the japanese translation from launchpad, i made some modifications and i tried to upload a file called "frostwire-ja.po" (in order to replace the current japanese translation).

This file have a few days waiting to be imported, so, I tried renaming this file to ja.po but the file was not accepted. I got an email saying: "Line 8603: String not terminated"

I ran "msgfmt -c" again and i got no errors. The file is currently in the "import queue", i have a few days waiting for approval. What could be wrong?

May i directly import a modified version of the same project files exported by launchpad?

Why I can't see what's wrong with this translation file even after "msgfmt -c" or the Po Editor?

How do i get the current "frostwire-ja.po" imported?

Thank you.

The renaming is an improvement; if there is anything but the language code and the ".po" in the file's name, the import system won't recognize the language and the file is held for manual review. Renaming it to "ja.po" allowed the system to process it automatically.

Now for the parse error. Chances are there's a problem with a Windows-style line ending: a carriage-return character and a line-feed character. Sometimes we see the closing quote appearing between the two, in which case some programs will see the carriage-return as a newline and others will not. Thus msgfmt will not complain, but Launchpad will.
