Carry over OpenSuse translation to Ubuntu

Asked by Richard Weideman

I'm not too familiar with the translation mechanisms, but am willing to learn.

At the moment, I'm try to help out and guide a group of people who are trying to bring their local language translation of Ubuntu up to a par with with the OpenSuse.

If translation work has been done on OpenSuse upstream applications, I'm assuming these can carry over into Ubuntu where the apps are shared in common ?

How does this work in effect ?

If I can read up on this in some links, I'm happy to explore.

Thanks
Rich

We import the translations from upstream, and any Ubuntu changes or additions are "overlaid" on top of those. So insofar as the Suse translation work has gone into the upstream translations, Ubuntu will have them too.
