Please enable translations for "debian-installer" on a per-language basis

Asked by Christian Perrier

As we discussed recently in IRC with Danilo, some teams who work on Debian Installer translations would like to do their work (or part of it) in Rosetta. Even though the D-I team does not want to base its whole l10n process on Rosetta, we are opened to make the work easier for all teams.

Therefore, I'd like to request about opening the l10n work on "debian-installer" product, on an experimental basis. The Kurdish team would be the first interested by this.

I do not think the previous message possibly qualifies as a valid answer. Re-opening ticket.

Christian, we've set up a following translation group:
https://translations.launchpad.net/translations/groups/debian-translation-group

You should now be able to go to
  https://translations.launchpad.net/debian-installer/+changetranslators

to select it as default translation group.

Then we'll set you as the owner for that translation group, so you would be able to add/remove teams from it. Is that fine with you, or do you want someone else to do it?

Note that it would be your responsibility to ensure that no non-Debian teams are admitted to translation group, and than only those selected few language teams are there which really want to use Rosetta officially.

I'm afraid I am not, Danilo:

Oh, right: I need to see with "Ubuntu Installer Team" about changing ownership to you (can you be considered the official d-i maintainer/contact?), and then you'll be able to do it.

The answer is yes.

You are able to manage your translation group from: https://launchpad.net/translations/groups/debian-translation-group

There, launchpad allows you to link a language with a Launchpad team so they are the ones assigned to manage those translations.

Cheers.
