Opaque system for translation credit

All throughout Launchpad, it is easy to find a host of examples, where translations suggested by Alice - each perhaps a little inconsistent with the respective translation guidelines - have been pending for months, and then, all of a sudden, a translation by Bob appears which is marked as "translated and reviewed by Bob", although it is, in fact, Alice's translation with a few minor corrections.

Even worse, when investigating a little further, it can happen that Alice's suggestions do not even get listed as such, but instead Bob is given credit for his almost verbatim copies.

That is…if I don't completely misunderstand what's going on in the system awarding credit for translations.

Am I missing something?
