Plan to release source code?

Asked by Eric Butler

Hi,

Are there plans to release the Soyuz source code so that people can run their own build servers/package repositories?

Thanks.

Not at the moment. However, do note that you can use the Debian suite of package management tools (dak, buildd, etc) to run your own debian archives without much hassle. I can try and find more information for you if you are interested.

I'm also curious as to what's your use case for this that PPAs wouldn't solve. Can you give me more details? I'm asking because we'd like Launchpad to offer you pretty much anything you'd want to do related to archive management (well.. /nearly/ anything!)

The use case I had in mind was for example building internal code at my employer - stuff that can't leave the local network. I'll look into the tools you suggested, however its hard to beat the easy of use provided by the launchpad PPA system!

Thanks for the reply!

We have a new service coming up that allows building and publishing packages privately. Is that essentially the functionality you are looking for?
