Annoying Timeouts

Asked by Thomas Sisson

These timeouts are annoying especially when you typed out excruciating detail. An issue like this cannot ever be solved because it is a server timeout error that can crop up at any time.

Sorry I took two weeks to get back to this. My Thunderbird mail filters are marking all of my sorted mail from Gmail as read.

I don't know what an Opps ID is, so I'm guessing I don't have one. I will explain to the best of my ability what I was doing.

I was trying to file a bug report through the "Create bug report" link on the website. It may have had to do with the fact that I cannot register at ubuntuforums.org with my Launchpad ID that I'm using here.

I filled in all of the blanks and typed any necessary and helpful information. I clicked to submit and received an error page. Essentially it said that page requested was not available. This was not a page not found error from the client side because of a bad Internet connection. Instead, it was a Launchpad page giving the server error.

I don't know if this would have been a script error, a busy server, or a general server error. I would suggest that a message should be inserted at the top each page when the server is overwhelmed or experiencing denial of service issues, or a link be placed at the bottom of each page to check the server status (like many websites do). This would at least allow users to know of any server issues, including PPA download issues.

without an oops id we can't look into it any further. The next time the page timesout, it will/does show an oops Id, please let us know then

Hello,

I have (more and more) the same problem as described here. I am translanting the Mahara strings and Mahara manual into French and need to do some find and replace on the Mahara Launchpad account. Sometimes, depending on the number of words I give in my research, and sometimes not, I get this "Error: Timeout" message.

Two minutes ago the ID of the error was :

 (Error ID: OOPS-4ed6e18aa25b507c9307df0b901d282d)

I can post others, as the arrives, on this post.

Please, could you give me a hint to avoid this annoying error to become taking me more time than the one I am spending on the translation.

Thank you so much,

Regards,
-dajan

Can you help with this problem?
