Adding team members to team's mailing list

Asked by Ahmed Toulan

Hi,

Is there a way to add team members to a launchpad mailing list without asking them to subscribe ? I find it a little weird that there is no way for the admin to manage mailing list users.

Thanks

It's best practice to ask people to sign up to a mailing list, letting them opt in and having the option to opt out.

I totally agree that this is best practice but there are situation where this is needed.
For instance in mailman you can do mass subscriptions.

Users entrust Launchpad with their email addresses. It's not a very trustworthy custodian if it lets random users subscribe you to mail they have not said they wanted. So not it's not possible on lp to do this.

Thanks that's what I needed to know, altough I think there so many ways to solve this. I still think that user management in lauchpad mailing lists is really poor.

Thanks again :)

I thought I would chime in and add that Launchpad has one of the worst interface designs possible. It feels like everything was exactingly designed so that no task is ever simple or intuitive.

As a policy decision I can not sign up team members to the team mailing list. What's the point of a team mailing list if everyone isn't on it?

I have a new team member who can not figure out how to subscribe to the mailing list... and I can't blame him!

You have some serious usability problems that need to be addressed.
