Add to New Tai Language

I've assigned this question to someone who will be able to help you more than me. He will be available tomorrow.

In the mean time, I did some research and it seems that the identifier 'tai' refers to a whole family of languages (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tai_languages). The links you provide seems to indicate that you might be interested in the Shan Language (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shan_language) / identifier shn. This language seems to already exist in Launchpad (https://translations.launchpad.net/+languages/shn). Can you comment on that?

Hi Ko Ko Ye`! Could you describe what's wrong with https://translations.launchpad.net/+languages/shn ? It looks right to me, except we haven't entered the plural forms and the countries yet.

The Ubuntu team name seems to be a separate problem; I'll ask David Planella to have a look at that. Or is the team also assigned to Shan instead of Shah?

If you will open Tai for us, Remove Shan will better! Coz that is the same language ! or rename Shan/Tai.

As far as we can find, Tai is a collective name for multiple languages. So based on what we see, Shan is a better name.

But the ubuntu-l10n-shn team is very confusing. I can't find anything about a language called Shah, but the members all say they speak Shona, an African language. But there's already an ubuntu-l10n-sn. And for some reason the Gujarati translation team is also applying to be a member of ubuntu-l10n-shn!

I think we should see if the team is still in use, and rename it as appropriate. Then you can then have a new team with the name ubuntu-l10n-shn. I'm contacting the people to make this happen.

There are two questions in one here:

* The language in Launchpad [1]: I understand that this should be named Shan as it is, so unless someone points to anything we need changing, I assume the entry is correct.
* The translation team in Ubuntu [2]: this is an inactive team that was created by mistake using the wrong language code. If memory seres right, we left the team there rather than deleting it, in case someone wanted to pick up the ownership.

So I guess the only remaining bit from this support request is to ask if Shan translator would like to take ownership of the translation team. If so, please let us know and we'll give you ownership. After that, you can by follow the remaining steps in the procedure for creating an Ubuntu translation team:

I'm not sure I understand what you mean there, could you please try to explain it to us again?

The team for https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-l10n-shn is for the Shan (Tai) language. If you want to translate into Shan, we'll be happy to make you the owner of the team.

According to the links you've given us, Tai (language code 'tai') is a family of languages, in which Shan (language code 'shn') is included. We'd rather have a team per language and language code, instead of having a team that takes care of a whole family of languages and language codes.

Would Shan be the language you want to translate into?
