Should public "I want to unsubscribe" bug comments be deleted?

Asked by Eliah Kagan

One user, perhaps thinking that it is possible to unsubscribe from a heavy-traffic bug by posting an additional comment in it, did so:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/aptdaemon/+bug/659438/comments/127

This is certainly not spam, but neither is it an appropriate post. It makes the user who posted it look incompetent (hey, we all have our off days), and it's a nuisance and distraction for everyone else. It seems unlikely that anyone would object to its removal. What's the policy for this? Are such comments deleted/hidden? (If so, then this one can be.)

We can hide unsubscribe requests. This one was a bit more editorial than some, but I've done so anyway. Thanks for mentioning it.

I just noticed that the user is still subscribed to the bug. Should someone contact him with unsubscription instructions? (I am reluctant to just do this myself, because if others did the same, he could receive an enormous volume of essentially duplicate private messages.) What is the appropriate Launchpad etiquette for this sort of thing?

User seems to have unsubscribed by now.

The user is still listed under "May be notified" even though the bug doesn't appear in the user's list of subscribed bugs. But I'll take your word for it that the user is probably unsubscribed to his level of satisfaction. Thanks for your help with this!
