Lithuanian team appointment in Launchpad Translators group

Asked by Gintautas Miliauskas

Hello,

I would like the new team Launchpad Lithuanian Translators <https://launchpad.net/~lp-l10n-lt> to be appointed in the Launchpad Translators group.

I believe I have addressed most points in <https://help.launchpad.net/Translations/LaunchpadTranslators#StartingTeam> . A Google Groups mailing list has been set up for communication. For the time being, we're using the generic translation guidelines.

Hi Gintautas,

Thanks for creating the Lithuanian team, it looks good!

May I ask you to address these points before appointing the team?:

* You are saying you've set up a google groups mailing list, but I see that you've got a Launchpad mailing list listed in the team's page. I think having two mailing lists listed can be confusing for people wanting to join or simply approach the team. Do you think you could decide on the official mailing list and remove the other from the team's page?

* You are also mentioning that you are going to use some generic guidelines. Could you give us a link to them, so that we can add them when appointing the team?

Once you've addressed those, we'll be happy to appoint the Lithuanian team so that you can start translating.

Regards,
David.

P.S. As a side note, if the people translating Ubuntu are also going to want to translate other applications in Launchpad, you can simply add ubuntu-l10n-lt as a subteam to lp-l10n-lt

Hi David,

thanks for looking into this. I created the Launchpad list after one of the members pointed out that mailinglist functionality is available in Launchpad itself. I've removed the reference to the Google group.

As for the guidelines, I'm using https://help.launchpad.net/Translations/Guide .

Thanks Gintautas,

I've now appointed the Lithuanian team in the Launchpad Translators group, so you should now be able to start translating any application assigned to that group.

Just a note: I'd very much recommend not to use the generic translation guidelines and rather create your own, specific to your language and your team. You can simply take the generic ones, translate them and adapt them, which is the general idea behind them.

Thus I've not added a link to them, but I'd encourage you to create your own set of guidelines as most teams have done:

    https://translations.launchpad.net/+groups/launchpad-translators

Happy translating!

Regards,
David.

P.S. As a side note, if the people translating Ubuntu are also going to want to translate other applications in Launchpad, you can simply add ubuntu-l10n-lt as a subteam to lp-l10n-lt

Can you help with this problem?
