Can 'fuzzy' translations be marked as 'Need Review'

Asked by Roland Clobus

Hello,

The launchpad translation imports the po files for my project (Pioneers, lauchpad name: pioneer) automatically from the svn repository at Sourceforge.
Some translations are marked fuzzy in the po file, but appear as untranslated in Launchpad. Even suggested translation (made by msgmerge) is not shown.

Did I miss some setting that allows Launchpad to see the fuzzy strings as strings that need review, instead of untranslated?

With kind regards,
Roland Clobus

We used to import fuzzy messages, but found that the automatic matching that is used for fuzzy messages was too unreliable for them to be very useful. Also our data model is quite complex and supporting fuzzy messages added one more dimension to it, and so we disabled them.

Thanks for the explanation. In my specific case I had changed many English texts only by changing the capitalization and adding/removing the period at the end of sentences. In this specific case the fuzzy strings would be very reliable, because the translations used another capitalization scheme, and did not need much work, other than a quick and simple review.

I'm also bothered by this. People are making great effort to help out with translating our project through LP, but every time I change some English text, how small the change may be, the translation is marked fuzzy and as a result the translation is marked untranslated on LP. How are people supposed to contribute translations if their translations keep disappearing like that?
