Support request for ISO 639-3 "wae"

Asked by bortis

We like to translate software to Walser (ISO 639-3: wae).

As a first step, we have created a locale file, that will be submitted to the glibc project for inclusion. We hope that they include the file until the end of this year. Until then, we would like to translate some software already, using the ISO three letter code "wae".

"wae" stands for Walser, which is the name of a higher alemanic language spoken in some parts of Switzerland, Italy, Lichtenstein, Austria and Germany.

The launchpad translation team name is "lp-l10n-wae" (https://launchpad.net/~lp-l10n-wae).

We are currently working on the glibc locale and the translation guidelines. They should be ready until the end of June.

There is a sepperate language inclusion request at https://answers.launchpad.net/rosetta/+question/112053 as suggested by David Planella.

I've set it up. Please define the guidelines on https://translations.launchpad.net/~lp-l10n-wae as soon as you can so that Walser translators get to see them when translating. I suggest you also consider starting an Ubuntu translation team, but I am sure you talked to David Planella about that.
