using ubuntu in offline

Hello everyone,
i've installed ubuntu 10.10 in my computer..
i haven't any Internet connection ...
so i need update files, patch and supporting packages for this version..
how can i install these packages in my ubuntu version, offline..?
this version included a media player but it doesn't support and play any format video files... and asks Internet connection for support files.. and i need the VLC player....
how to install vlc player offline? any package file available in net?
please help me...
