Cannot get into jisko after installation

Asked by Dave Thomson

Hi I see this as a great tool for classrooms - safe and flexible. Main problem is that after installing everything and getting jisko to install and the hope page to appear I cannot log in. The users appear in the user_files folder but jisko reports that the username does not exist. Is this something to do with mysql? If so what should I look at next - or are there any specific steps. I think the config file is correct.

Thanks in advance

Dave

Please tell me what version of Jisko have you installed.

Then check the database with phpmyadmin or whatever and tell me if there are
rows in the table 'users'

Thanks!

Hi thanks for the reply

Lastest version of Jisko from the site yesterday
There are rows in the 'user' table ID, Username, password etc

BUT I think I have some really poor configs on MySQL itself as I get this
from the link on the phpMyAdmin page after logging in:

and the following messages on the foot of the page..

The additional features for working with linked tables have been
deactivated. To find out why click
here<http://lickey.office-on-the.net/phpmyadmin/chk_rel.php?token=890aa2d4021b7e7e4adb071b2d42baad>
.
The mbstring PHP extension was not found and you seem to be using a
multibyte charset. Without the mbstring extension phpMyAdmin is unable to
split strings correctly and it may result in unexpected results.
The configuration file now needs a secret passphrase (blowfish_secret).
Your PHP MySQL library version 5.0.51a differs from your MySQL server
version 5.1.48. This may cause unpredictable behavior.

As a beginner I wonder if I should press on or give up gracefully.

What would you advise?

Regards

Dave

Also...... when I click any link on the Jisko page from the internet I get
an address of 127.0.0.1 in the browser.

Sorry to have so many issues but I either pursue this with some expert input
or I give up and take up fishing! (joke)

That's because you didn't configure Jisko properly. When asked for an URL
you typed '127.0.0.1'. Why don't you try making a new install?

If you're planning to show your site to any other person outside your
computer, use your web site address. Otherwise, use localhost.

Thanks!

Hi

Started from scratch and now have a working system - think it was a messed up MySQL database. I only have two issues remaining.

1. I get this displayed in the URL shortening panel and dont know what to do about it

Warning: array_merge() [function.array-merge]: Argument #2 is not an array in C:\xampp\htdocs\microb\includes\themes.php on line 273

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in C:\xampp\htdocs\microb\includes\themes.php on line 277

2. Is there any way of turning off the public view so that only registered users can see the posts - ideal for school use when they want to use this as an internal tool.

Many thanks for a super product.

Regards

Dave

The first error is already fixed and we're going to publish a new version
with all these fixes. Please check
http://wiki.jisko.org/w/Changelog#3.0beta3

There's actually no way to hide those posts, but... what you can do is to
tell your users to make their profiles private. Check the Privacy tab at the
Settings page. :)

Thanks for your interest in Jisko!

Regards, Marcos.
