put lines around shape

Asked by Jaap

I am new to Inkscape
i would like to use inkscape to draw lines, free hand lines.
using Bamboo tablet Ma cOS Leopard. Inkscape 0.47
inkscape sometimes makes forms of my lines. when i draw a free line a circle appears.
is it possible just to scrible some lines in inkscape?
I dont read much about just drawing in the tutorials and help, its all about shapes.

Check the pencil tool (<F6>) controls (in the toolbar right above the canvas): it might be that you have the mode 'Create Spiro path' activated. Change it back to the default 'Create regular Bézier path'. Experiment with the 'Smoothing' factor how it influences the lines you draw. If your lines have varying widths -> reset the 'Shape' option to <None> (or just test and experiment to see how a shape can be used to change the stroke of your lines).

Yes ;-) though I can't tell from personal experience - instead…

…a few links found via google, not very specific but maybe helpful as introduction:
